Brian Murphy, started American Furniture Design and Murphy's Fine Woodworking over 35 years ago, and just sold American Furniture Design to Lee Valley Tools in Canada. American Furniture Design was the 3^rd largest woodworking plan company in the states.

Brian is recognized as a leader in the Art’s and Crafts design discipline. His furniture is in galleries in Muncy, Pennsylvania and throughout the country.  He has received numerous awards and recognition for his work and continues to design in a bold new style. In 2008 he was awarded First Honorable Mention in the Custom Working Business Magazine, a National Contest for residential furniture. In 2012 and 2015 he was among the top 3 in the same national contest. In 2017 he placed in residential furniture for a contest sponsored by Woodworking Network National. He has been recognized in numerous magazines and has been featured on the cover of a new book by Taunton Press. In 2020 he was Awared a California State Assembly Recognition Certificate for the Arts. He is presently the past Chairman for the Escondido Chamber of Commerce, past Chairman of the Escondido Arts Partnership, past Chairman of the Escondido Public Art Commission and past chair of the North County Cemetery District. Brian resides in Escondido with his wife Nancy.  They have two children and three grandchildren.

Rejuvenation Service

MFW now offers a Rejuvenation service for aged MFW pieces. This service is for clients who purchased pieces from us a few years before and want them cleaned up a bit. This is an in-house service.
